Westchester County and the Department of Environmental Facilities selected the Town of Somers as the winner of the 2026 EcoAward!
Winners were selected for significant contributions to recycling and waste reduction, and for innovative and impactful eco-practices in Westchester. The winners serve as an inspiration for all County residents. Somers was selected for achieving the highest municipal waste reduction (by percentage) in Westchester County in 2025.
The EcoAwards celebrate noteworthy achievements, as well as honor individuals, organizations, and municipalities who made great contributions to recycling, waste reduction, and the environment.
County Executive Kenneth W. Jenkins and the Westchester County Department of Environmental Facilities held the event on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers. Deputy Supervisor Michael Coughlin attended the ceremony and received the award on behalf of the Town of Somers.
